I’ve put up a page about the patchwork baby blanket (from my “Finished Objects”) in case you were curious.

(By the way, has everyone already seen this?

Go check it out if you haven’t. It was made last year (by a guy, yay), but I never looked at knitting blogs back then.

It’s seriously intarsia. And those squares are tiny.

Cray. Zee.)

Knitting is currently in progress, but can’t show pictures yet. Have a great holiday weekend, and I’ll see you back here with a finished somethin or other.

Backless Back

Posted on May 7th, 2006. About Blue Socks, Irish Crochet Dress, Men Knit.

Ok. My friend and I decided to make socks with our beautiful tweedy yarn. He’s gotten a little side-tracked with another pair of gloves, but I’ve gone ahead and started - here’s the little rib on size US 0 needles. We’re going to share our colors - the heel and toe of my socks will be mustardy-brown, and the heel and toe of his will be blue. Awww. How cute. Anyway, before I get going again on my Norwegian Stockings, this will be good practice to figure out the whole knit-sock thing.

Went up a few hook sizes and started working again on the crochet dress - it makes my left hand tired to crochet, though, so can only do a little at a time. Here are the two sides of the back in progress…

and joined together:

The lace is VERY stretchy, and apparently the point is to stretch it out when blocking. (Maybe all lace is like this? I don’t know, I’ve never made lace before.) So while the back opening may look small here, it’s going to open up and show a little skin, for sure. In case you were wondering, this pattern is from 1934, and it’s officially called “The Kingston.” Sounds quite formal, no? I guess I’ll have to find a formal crochet-dress ball to attend in order to wear it.

Um, You’re Kidding, Right?

Posted on May 1st, 2006. About Blue Socks, Men Knit, Updates, Yarn.

I obviously have a disorder consisting of a deficit of attention when it comes to knitting. But now I have a good excuse for starting yet ANOTHER project - I am trying to encourage my guy friend to continue his knitting and give moral support during the hard times while he is still learning (and getting frustrated). So we went yarn shopping together the other day, and bought Harris Yarn 4 Ply in a blue shade and a mustard-y brown shade. So very pretty. I mean, ruggedly masculine. We will be doing our own private knitalong, but I won’t reveal the actual pattern until we know exactly what it is…

Also, I’m still updating the finished projects section on the right. I’ve added a little info about the elephant, for anyone who is curious.

Yay for Men Knitting!

Posted on April 10th, 2006. About Men Knit.

I have been teaching my friend to knit, and he has finished his first project that is not a scarf.

Just needed to show it off because I’m very proud of him, and because he is very proud of the glove.
