My mom actually picked out my sewing machine for me, it's a Janome Memory Craft 3000, and I got it from allbrands(dot com). They have good deals on that site - you should definitely check prices online to compare to store prices. Of course, Brother and Singer are two other good brands. That's great that you want to learn to sew - it's a lot of fun!

I'm interested. I would love to hear more about your machine, because this sewing virgin is in the market for a machine. I"m actually planning on taking an intro to sewing class.

Ooo, sewing!

My mom bought me a sewing machine for Christmas, and I've yet to use it. I have a ton of fabric and a few patterns, and just haven't been able to put down my knitting long enough to do anything with it. I hope I hope I hope to make something soon.

To answer your question on my blog: This talks some about what it is (see "Crochet on the Double"). It's also similar to Tunisian croichet, which I kinda know how to do.
